The minutes of the Club’s last meeting on June 11, 2000 were approved as circulated.
The treasurer gave his report, with no change from the June report.
VE1MBC reported that Tyler, VE1TMN had joined the net schedule as a regular. More net controls are needed.
VE1TA reported that a new repeater, 146.835 was installed at Dalhousie, together with a UHF repeater at 444.850. He reported that $400.00 was spent on crystals, etc., and $410.00 on the controller. It was moved and seconded that we pay these accounts. Motion carried.
VE1TA reported that the annual meeting/picnic was held at Fort Lawrence, at Amherst, NS and was a good time.
VE1PLV reported on this and thanked everyone that helped and came. He indicated that it was difficult to get antennas to work on the Fraser. He suggested another location for next year. It was moved and seconded that this report be accepted. Motion carried. It was also moved and seconded that we hold Field Day at the Scout Camp in June 2001. Motion carried.
STEAK AND SALMON SUPPER
In the absence of VE1PGM and VE1EAR, VE1CYP gave the report. It was a great event well attended as ever. The President thanked all who assisted with the event.
VE1AUZ reported that he had monies for QSL cards, which he turned over to the Treasurer. He asked if the cub was a member of RAC, if so cards could be forwarded by the Bureau. VE1CYP reported we were and will pass the registration number to VE1AUZ. It was moved and seconded that the Club pay the small account for postage presented by VE1AUZ. Motion carried.
Table at Greenwood Flea Market? The President asked if members wanted to have a table at the Greenwood Flea Market. A motion was made, seconded and carried that the club have a table at the Greenwood Flea Market in October. Volunteers are needed to assist with the same. It is October 21, 2000.
Jamboree on the Air will be held at the Scout Camp on October 21, 2000. Contact George, VE1GAM or Tyler, VE1TMN. Setup will be Thursday night.
VE1TA asked if the members would support a raffle for a good hf radio, if NSARA held one. Members agreed they would sell tickets in support of the same.
VE1AUZ reported that the Cushcraft vertical the club had bought was in bad shape. He agreed to undertake repairs.
The president reported that the Kinsman Hall was booked for all Saturdays in December prior to Xmas. Alternate days of the week were discussed. Members felt a Sunday pm would be good. The president will check and report.
Since the next regular monthly meeting falls on Thanksgiving Sunday, members wanted to have the club meeting on the third Sunday. The president will decide and the same will be on the net.
VE1PLV reported there is a need for IPARN net controls.
